Notes for Anna Caroline Reihbold:

According to Mayme Rosa Gissendonner, Anna’s mother and father eloped and ran off to Florida. After both were killed of yellow fever, Anna Caroline was brought back to Henry Co., AL to be raised by her grandmother and Aunt Jane.

Notes for John T. Martin:

There are “? Martins” in this family because of the large difference in years between children.  Seems likely there were more children that possibly died before 1860. As I can’t find John T. Martin in 1840 of 1850 census’, it’s hard to tell how many more children there might be and who they were without a deeper search into county and family records.

B01[1]321 *STARLING (**ARCHIBALD) GILMORE (John5, Humphrey4, John3, ?2, ?1 was born about 1803 in GA70. He died between 1821-1828 in Clarke Co., AL. He married Nancy Turner on 21 Mar 1821 in Clarke Co., AL71. She was born between 1800-1810.  Another possibility exists for this Gilmore.  He may also belong to Family F as this particular line of Gilmore was also living in Clarke Co., AL at the time.

Notes for *Starling (**Archibald) Gilmore:

According to Ophelia A. Gilmore, Archibald is a “proven” son of John and Elizabeth Cartwright Gilmore but I can find no record of him. There is an Archibald Gilmore b c1812 VA who was in Independence Co., AR in 1860 and 1870 the same time Peter Cartwright Gilmore’s family was; however, this Archibald Gilmore family appears to be unrelated. First he was born in VA and the John and Elizabeth Cartwright Gilmore family came from GA into TN and then AL and MS. Also, the age of this Archibald clashes with another sibling, John Wesley Gilmore. As an extra note, this Archibald Gilmore family appears to have spent about 20 years in MO. Another point is the children’s names don’t appear to match other family names in this group of Gilmores.

There is another Archibald Gilmore that is of comparable age also in Fayette Co., AL, however he was born in SC and appears to be from a different strand of Gilmore/Gilmer.

The only record so far that I see Starling Gilmore in is a marriage record in Clarke Co., AL to Nancy Turner. As mentioned in the notes under Rev. John Wesley Gilmore, I believe he is a good possibility as a child of Rev. John; but other than proximity and the fact that the JP who married them would be Starling’s uncle if Starling is indeed a son to Rev. John I don’t have any other proof. I think trying to find out how Starling got his name might be a direction to go in solidifying this father/son relationship.

From marriage record’s in Wilcox Co., AL, it appears that Starling’s wife, Nancy Turner remarried in 1828 to Matthew Albritton, a man 40 to 50 years her senior. The 1830 census shows Matthew Albritton 60-70 years of age with boy 0-5, girl 0-5, 2 girls 5-10 and 1 girl 20-30. The last girl would likely be Nancy Turner Gilmore and the other children offspring of Starling Gilmore. From family trees on Ancestry.com it appears that Matthew Albritton’s former wife, Mary, died in 1825.

In 1830 Matthew Albritton’s children from his previous marriage were grown and gone though a case could be argued that the girl age 20-30 was a younger daughter who married and whose husband died and the younger children are hers.

The Matthew Albritton family trees on Ancestry.com also state that Matthew died in 1833 in Wilcox Co., AL which coinside with the 1840 census of a Mrs. M Albritton whose probable children match with the kids in the 1830 census except one of the older girls isn’t there (died or married?).

This family so far can’t be found in census records for 1850 or 1860.

Notes for Nancy Turner:

Nancy Turner Gilmore was 40-50 years younger than her second husband. The 1830 Wilcox, AL census has 3 girls and 1 boy 0-10 years of age. They are probably Starling Gilmore’s children though the youngest could be Matthew Albritton’s offspring.

He was born between 1790-1800 in Clarke Co., AL.  Another possibility exists for this Gilmore as Family F also appears to have been living in Clarke Co., AL at the same time as Family B.

Notes for *Jane “Jeane” Gilmore:

Jane Gilmore may be a daughter of John Gilmore. No proof exists, but she is here for the same reason Starling is in this family. (See notes for Starling Gilmore)

This family disappears after the 1830 census.
