Notes for Thomas Griffin Gilmore:

I have seen in LDS records and other sources that Thomas Griffin Gilmore married a Mary McQuagge in Walton Co. FL in 1840. I can’t find a marriage record in this county to substantiate this claim and it doesn’t make much sense considering where he was living at the time. There is a marriage record of a Thomas Gilmore marrying a Mary Tucker in 1838 in Lowndes Co., MS. This I believe is the Thomas Gilmore of this study as it is compatible to where he was living at the time.

Notes for *Sarah Ann Gilmore:

Sarah Ann Gilmore is not a proven daughter of John and Betsy Gilmore as she married in a county with two seperate Gilmore families at a time where it is hard to seperate fact from fiction; however, I do have a hypothesis about this connection that is supported by the fact that she and her husband appeared to travel to Milam Co., TX together with John Wesley Gilmore and Thomas Griffin Gilmore.

Also, in the 1840 census there are two elderly men between 60 and 70 years of age and one woman between 50 and 60. The hypothesis is that the two older men are her father and father-in-law and the woman her mother-in-law or mother. This is not disproven yet. One supporting fact is her father died in 1844 so was still living.
